How can I participate in the service?
Health check-ups are carried out at health stations. You may also be directed to a centralised service through your local health station. Additionally, a health check-up for an unemployed person may be initiated through your assigned specialist.
Health check-ups for the unemployed are a statutory service implemented by the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county. There are no separate requirements for participating in the service.
You can receive information about your state of health and instructions from a professional accordingly. This is a preventive service.
If you are directed to a health check-up for an unemployed person by your assigned specialist, your consent is required in order to disclose your data to the wellbeing services county.
How is the service organised?
You can ask your local health station about a health check-up for an unemployed person. You can also discuss the option of being referred to a health check-up with your assigned specialist.
The goal of the free-of-charge health check-up performed by the public health nurse is to identify any hindrances to your work ability, support your psychological wellbeing and life management, and promote your health, functional capacity and work ability. The goal of preventive health check-ups is to prevent chronic diseases and cure and alleviate the physical, psychological and social consequences of illnesses. If necessary, it is also possible to arrange a telephone appointment.
The public health nurse will direct you to a doctor’s appointment or a more extensive assessment of your work ability and functional capacity if needed. Doctor’s appointments are subject to the normal health centre fee.
The fee charged for an unused and uncancelled service offered by the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county is €56.70 in 2025.
