    How is the service organised?

    Implementation

    Qualification units

    • The studies are primarily organised as daytime studies from Monday to Friday. For further information, see the details for each unit.

Qualification units with support for Finnish as a second language (S2)

    • S2 support is available for some units.
    • S2 support provides Finnish language support during studies as well as support for completing studies with Finnish as a second language. The S2 support provided varies according to the industry to which the training is related and the content of the training.
    • S2-supported units: in general, S2 support means that the student participates in OPVA lessons approximately 2 or 2.5 times per week (may vary between educational institutions). OPVA refers to studies supporting learning skills, during which students strengthen their learning skills, language proficiency and other fundamental skills.
    • OPVA largely focuses on Finnish language practice, but it also teaches other learning skills, such as digital skills, working life skills and mathematics.

S2-supported initial vocational qualification groups: support for the Finnish language is provided through multiple teachers teaching the same group at the same time and in the form of a workshop and OPVA lessons, for instance. The number of lessons varies.

The level of language proficiency required varies between study programmes.

This service generally requires in-person attendance, but see the details for each unit for further information.
