New groups are started twice per year. The focus industries change each round (for example IT, healthcare, teaching, etc.).

We will announce when we are accepting applications for new mentoring groups on our website, social media channels, and in our newsletter.

Luckan coordinators will interview interested participants. During the interview, we’ll go over the structure of the mentoring model and the requirements for participation.

Benefits of participating in the service

By participating, you’ll have the opportunity to advance your career in your field. The group offers industry-specific guidance, supports professional networking, and helps you stay up to date on the latest developments in your field. In the group you can also discuss work and society and share experiences.

Conditions for participating in the service

Priority is given to more vulnerable groups, such as women and immigrants integrating in Swedish.

How can I participate in the service?

Participants are grouped into teams of about 15 people from the same industry, each with 3–4 experienced mentors who are well-established in the Finnish labour market. The group meets at Luckan’s premises 8–10 times during one semester, with the assistance of our project coordinators. The schedule for the meetings and practical arrangements are agreed upon between the mentors and project coordinators before the first meeting. The groups usually have all meetings in person, as this has been deemed most effective given the importance of social interaction for the programme.

The goal of the mentoring programme is to bridge the gap between the skills of immigrants and the needs of the labour market, as well as to address the lack of professional networks. Mentors share industry-specific knowledge and provide more targeted guidance, which helps participants better understand the sector’s requirements and opportunities. Another benefit of the group is peer support: it encourages networking and collaboration, which helps strengthen participants’ chances of finding their place in the workforce.
