The client pays the course fee. The course fees vary in price. You can ask the social services office whether you can receive financial support for the course fees.
Present a certificate of the validity of your job search before the start of the course to receive a discount for unemployed persons.

The Finnish as a second language (S2) courses offered by Espoo Adult Education Centre are intended for people whose first language is not Finnish.

How can I participate in the service?
- You can apply for the Finnish language courses for different skill levels online.
- If you need help with applying, you can request help directly from your school, your employment services specialist or your social worker.
- If you are accepted for a course, you must inform your employment services specialist straight away.
- Register for courses at ilmonet.fi or by calling +358 20 692 444 (Mon–Thu, 12.30-15.30).
- If the course is full, you can request a place on a waiting list.
- Present a certificate of the validity of your job search before the start of the course to receive a discount for unemployed persons.
- Course registration is binding.

If you need help with choosing a suitable course, you can contact the study counselling service on Tuesdays between 13.00 and 14.00. The service number for study counselling is +358 40 126 7448. The study counselling service is available in Finnish and English.
How is the service organised?
Some of the courses are taught face-to-face and others online. More information on the courses is available on the Ilmonet website, where you can register for the courses.
You can study Finnish by taking part-time courses that run for 2–8 hours a week or intensive courses that run for 12 hours a week. Part-time courses are available during the day and in the evening, while intensive courses are only available during the day.
If you would like to study at a leisurely pace, you can choose a slow-paced course. However, if you would prefer to progress quickly in your studies, you can choose a fast-paced course.
You can study Finnish at the language proficiency levels A1–B2.
