    Compensation for travel and accommodation costs

    You can seek compensation for costs incurred for a job interview if you attend a job interview in Finland or in another EU country. Moreover, the payment of compensation must be appropriate from the perspective of your employment.

    How can I participate in the service?

    Primarily seek compensation for travel and accommodation costs via the local government e-service for TE by filling in the online application. Alternatively, you can seek compensation by filling in the form keha20h1 and delivering it to your employment area within a month from the end of the trip at the latest. You do not need to attach travel receipts to your application, as the amount of compensation paid is €0.21 per kilometre.

    Your own contribution to travel costs is €12, and the maximum amount of compensation per trip is €200. Accommodation costs are compensated according to the actual costs incurred, up to €80 per day. Please note! For accommodation costs, you are required to attach a receipt and a copy of the actual costs to your application. If you seek compensation for both types of costs but have not provided a receipt for the accommodation costs, you must attach it to your application. The employment area may approve the compensation to be paid in full or in part as an advance.

    You must be an unemployed jobseeker in order to seek compensation for travel and accommodation costs. The requirement is that the compensation be considered to be appropriate from the perspective of your employment and the availability of labour. No impact on the unemployment benefit.

    How is the service organised?

    You can seek compensation for costs incurred for a job interview if you attend a job interview in Finland or in another EU country. The job to which you are applying must last for at least two weeks, and your working hours must average at least 18 hours a week. Staying overnight in the municipality where the interview is held must be necessary on account of transport connections. Moreover, the payment of compensation must be appropriate from the perspective of your employment. Receiving compensation for the travel and accommodation costs related to a job interview requires you to be an unemployed jobseeker.

    You can receive compensation for costs if you:

    • take part in an admission event or aptitude test related to labour market training
    • visit the educational institution organising labour market training before the start of training in order to confirm the educational institution’s accessibility and other suitability for your studies because of a disability or illness
    • visit a service point for an employment area, your visit is considered to be necessary and you require transport services because of a disability or illness (such visits include meetings for the purpose of drawing up and reviewing an employment plan or another corresponding plan and meetings for the purpose of personal vocational and career guidance)
    • participate in an assessment by a specialist, organised by the employment area.
