    The Competence Centre for Highly Educated Immigrants is suitable for you if you meet the following criteria:

    1. You are a client of  Employment Espoo whose first language is not Finnish or Swedish.
    2. You have a degree (at least a bachelor’s degree, completed within the last 5 years)  and/or work experience in your field, gained in the last five years. You are looking for a job that corresponds to your degree.
    3. Your Finnish or Swedish proficiency level is at least B1.1 or you speak fluent English in one of the following fields: IT, technology, business, research.
    4. Your work ability and situation in life allow you to participate in the  activities on a full-time basis.

    Employment Espoo will  guide you  to become a client of the competence centre. Once you are accepted to the competence centre, you will receive further information by email. As a client of the competence centre, you will attend meetings and events in Otaniemi and elsewhere in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. We will also provide career guidance remotely. Clients are continuously guided to the competence centre.

    Our goal is to help you find a job in your field.

    You will receive support in order to gain an understanding of the Finnish labour market in your field. We will help you focus your job search, find the right employers, draw up a CV and job application, prepare for job interviews, grow your networks and find peer support. 

    After participating in the service, you will know more about your field in Finland, know how to search for jobs in Finland, be able to talk about your strengths and skills, and know which services can help you in the future. 

    Conditions for participating in the service

    Participating in the service requires you to have a degree from a higher education institution.

    How can I participate in the service?

    We will send you, via email, information about the service and an invitation to an onboarding event taking place in Teams. Shortly afterwards, your vocational counsellor will contact you and schedule an appointment for your first personal meeting. At this meeting, we will assess your situation (education, career, situation in life, goals, motivation), introduce you to the services available and update your employment/integration plan.

    The Competence Centre for Highly Educated Immigrants will offer you breakfast networking events, job search workshops, comments on your job search documents, career planning events, visits to employers, and support from business coordinators. 

    Clients are directed to the service and can start it at different times during the year. The service is organised as a hybrid service both via a remote connection and in person in Otaniemi, Espoo. You can remain our client for up to 10 months. During the service, you will also be able to participate in other services that support your employment and best suit you, such as short-term or part-time language courses and other studies. We can provide further information on the recognition of degrees, supplementing your skills, coaching, mentoring programmes, and programmes that promote wellbeing, among other things.
