    From Varia to work – short-term training for jobseekers living in Vantaa

    The ‘From Varia to Work’ pilot at Vantaa Vocational College Varia helps participants develop labour market skills through customised vocational education tailored to their needs and desired job.

    Who is the service for?

    Conditions for participation in the training:

    • in need of training
    • has the necessary study and working life skills
    • genuinely motivated to develop their skills for the needs of the labour market
    • has the language proficiency required by the training
    • able to study on the unemployment benefit
    • the municipality of residence is Vantaa, and the person is a jobseeker in the Vantaa employment area.

    How can I participate in the service?

    If you are interested in the ‘From Varia to work’ short-term training, please contact your specialist at Vantaa Employment Services. They will confirm whether it is possible for you to complete the short-term training while you are on unemployment benefits, and they will guide you to enrol at Varia. The best way to contact your specialist is to submit an electronic contact request via Job Market Finland’s E-services.

    Conditions for participating in the service:

    Depending on the field of study, participation in the training may require a good level of physical fitness or other similar things necessary for employment, for instance. Read the more detailed descriptions of the fields of study here !

    How is the service organised?

    A working life specialist from Varia can help jobseekers with this by assessing the client’s situation together with the client and identifying suitable training for them.

    The goal is for the jobseeker to find a job on the open labour market, a hidden job or a job at one of the City of Vantaa’s partner companies through rapid short-term training.

    The ‘From Varia to work’ guidance sessions and training programmes primarily seek to provide the participant with a short training path towards employment. The participant’s training may be customised with consideration to their personal needs and desired job. 

    Inside Varia, the client can be guided to short-term training, qualification units, or training leading to a qualification or degree, for instance. Participants in the pilot will receive support for their employment and the development of their skills from Varia’s extensive network and the guidance provided by specialists.
