How can I participate in the service?
Bring up your health with employment services if:
- it has been a long time since your previous health check-up
- you are concerned about your health
- your ability to work and rehabilitation needs should be determined.
We will advise you how you can participate in a digital health check-up at Omaolo.fi, or we can write you a referral to a health station if necessary. You can also go in for a health check-up at your own initiative.
Participants must be unemployed. According to Finnish law, unemployed persons are entitled to a health check-up by a public health nurse, free of charge.
- You will receive current information about your state of health.
- You will be offered support with promoting your health and wellbeing.
- If you have an illness requiring treatment or a need to undergo an assessment of your work ability and functional capacity, you will be referred to a doctor.
- If necessary, you will receive help with seeking treatment and rehabilitation.
If necessary, employment services will write you a referral to a health station for a health check-up. For the referral, we will ask you to provide written consent for the exchange of information between Helsinki’s healthcare services and Helsinki Employment Services.
How is the service organised?
Helsinki provides the necessary health check-ups for its working-age residents. There are two alternative routes to a health check-up:
- Primarily, you should fill in the digital health check questionnaire at OmaOlo.fi. If the health check suggests that you have an elevated health risk, you can send the questionnaire results to your health station, which will then contact you.
- If necessary, ask employment services to write you a referral for a health check-up. Then book an appointment at your local health station. After a health check-up by a public health nurse, you will be referred to a doctor who will assess your work ability and functional capacity, if necessary. During the health check-up, you are provided with a personal care or service plan.
