    Preventive health check-ups for unemployed persons are a statutory service. The health check-ups assess and support your health and wellbeing, and they also examine your work ability, functional capacity and potential rehabilitation needs.

    How can I participate in the service?

    Health check-ups are primarily carried out at Nikkilä Social and Health Station, located at Jussaksentie 14, 04130 Sipoo. You may also be directed to a centralised service through your local health station. Additionally, a health check-up for an unemployed person may be initiated through your assigned employment services specialist.

    • The appointment booking for health check-ups for unemployed persons is available Monday to Friday 8.00–16.00, tel. +358 19 5600 121.
    • Your call will be registered by the call-back service.
    • A healthcare professional will call you back within seven weekdays and perform an initial assessment for the health check-up.

    Disclosure of personal data

    When you attend a health check-up for an unemployed person, you consent to your personal data being disclosed between wellbeing services counties and employment areas. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

    Cancelling an appointment

    • If you would like to cancel your appointment, call the health station’s appointment booking. Cancel your appointment at the latest 24 hours before the scheduled time.
    • During the phone call, select the option ‘cancel appointment’.
    • Leave a message in the answering machine. You can leave messages in the answering machine at any time of day.
    • Alternatively, you can send a message to a nurse through the HyVä-digi chat if you would like to cancel your appointment. Cancel your appointment at the latest 24 hours before the scheduled time. 

    If you do not cancel your appointment in time and you are 18 or older, you will have to pay a cancellation fee. 

    Conditions for participating in the service:

    Health check-ups for the unemployed are a statutory service implemented by the East Uusimaa wellbeing services county. There are no separate requirements for participating in the service.

    Benefits of participating in the service:

    You can receive information about your state of health and instructions from a professional accordingly. You may be directed to further examinations or treatment. This is a preventive service.

    In order for multi-professional cooperation to be implemented, you must provide your signed consent for information sharing and multi-professional cooperation. The East Uusimaa wellbeing services county’s form ‘Suostumus tietojen vaihtamiseen moniammatillisessa yhteistyössä’ (Consent to information sharing in multi-professional cooperation) or Kela’s ‘Y100’ form can be used for this purpose. The consent form must be sent as an appendix to the referral.

    How is the service organised?

    The goal of the free-of-charge health check-up performed by the public health nurse is to identify any hindrances to your work ability, support your psychological wellbeing and life management, and promote your health, work ability and functional capacity. The goal of preventive health check-ups is to prevent chronic diseases and cure and alleviate the physical, psychological and social consequences of illnesses. If necessary, it is also possible to arrange a telephone appointment.

    The public health nurse will direct you to a doctor’s appointment or a more extensive assessment of your work ability and functional capacity if needed. Doctor’s appointments are subject to the normal health centre fee.
