Benefits of participating in the service
The goal of integration training is to promote the student’s Finnish/Swedish proficiency and other capabilities that will allow the student to enter the workforce or move on to further studies. Integration training strengthens the student’s agency and participation, increases their knowledge of the ways of Finnish society and extensively improves their everyday skills.
Conditions for participating in the service
Your assigned specialist will assess your service needs and, in many cases, first direct you to participate in a competence assessment for the purpose of assessing your initial level of Finnish proficiency. The service will determine your level of Finnish proficiency, reading and writing skills, and learning skills. The service will provide you with a recommendation on suitable integration training or other services. The test will take around four hours.
How can I participate in the service?
The integration training comprises the following parts:
- language proficiency and communication skills
- social and working life skills
- guidance and support for studies and learning.
During the training, a personal study plan will be prepared for you, taking into account your previous work experience and education, for instance.
The integration training includes on-the-job learning implemented at workplaces, which allows you to experience working life in Finland and practise using Finnish in practical situations.
The integration training may comprise more than one training programme or service. Your study path will be built during the studies.
