    Kela – Nuoren elo rehabilitation course

    The objective is that you will receive support on your life situation and coping with everyday life. The course will seek to increase your mental resources to enable you to participate in a wide range of activities in your living environment.

    • You are 16–29 years old.
    • You have been diagnosed with mild or moderate depression or an anxiety disorder.
    • The mental health disorder impairs your ability to study or work or your functional capacity.
    • You would like to participate in rehabilitation implemented as face-to-face or online rehabilitation.

    PLEASE NOTE! The Elo course is not a good fit for you if you have a severe mental health disorder, such as severe depression, severe psychological symptoms, an untreated alcohol problem or other substance abuse issues.

    Challenges with work and functional capacity
    1. First, make a doctor’s appointment. Assess your need for rehabilitation with your doctor. If necessary, the doctor will recommend rehabilitation and prepare a certificate (medical certificate B) for you so that you can apply for rehabilitation.
    2. Fill in the application form for discretionary rehabilitation KU 132 (PDF, in Finnish only).external link, opens in a new tab
    3. Append to your application a medical certificate B that indicates the illness or disability serving as grounds for the rehabilitation, as well as your functional capacity, the type of rehabilitation being recommended, and the reasons for and objectives of the rehabilitation.
    4. Submit your application via OmaKela.
      • After filling in the application form, save it to your device. The application must be in PDF format.
      • Log in to OmaKelaexternal link, opens in a new tab.
      • Go to ‘Tee hakemus’ (Submit an application).
      • Select ‘Sairastaminen ja kuntoutus’ (Illness and rehabilitation) and then ‘Kuntoutus – tee hakemus’ (Rehabilitation – submit an application). Select ‘Harkinnanvarainen kuntoutus’ (Discretionary rehabilitation) as the benefit.
      • Press ‘Lisää hakemus’ (Add an application) to add your application from your device and then press ‘Lähetä’ (Submit).
      • If you submit your application via OmaKela, you do not need to sign it.
      • Send the appendices via OmaKela once you have first submitted your application. If the appendices are on paper, you can take a photo of them or scan them.

    OR send your application by post:

    • Sign the application and send it and its appendices by post to the following address: Kela, PO Box 10, 00056 Kela.

     

    The written decision will be sent to your home by post. You can also view the decision in OmaKela. The decision on your rehabilitation will also be sent to the service provider to inform them and to serve as a booking and a voucher. You cannot appeal the decision.

    Conditions for participating in the service

    • You are 16–29 years old.
    • You have been diagnosed with mild or moderate depression or an anxiety disorder.
    • The mental health disorder impairs your ability to study or work or your functional capacity.
    • You would like to participate in rehabilitation implemented as face-to-face or online rehabilitation.

    How can I participate in the service?

    • The rehabilitation is implemented as group rehabilitation, taking into account each client’s individual rehabilitation needs and goals.
    • The course includes group discussions, working in small groups, a wide range of activities, individual interviews, meetings and discussions with rehabilitation specialists.

    The rehabilitation is organised as a combination of face-to-face rehabilitation and remote rehabilitation. The Swedish-language course is organised entirely as remote rehabilitation. If necessary, the service provider can lend you a device for your participation in the remote rehabilitation. Remote rehabilitation does not require any special IT skills, and you will receive an induction to the remote rehabilitation from the service provider.

    The rehabilitation includes five individual meetings that can be held in the service provider’s premises or your everyday environment.

    Remote rehabilitation is implemented:

    • as online rehabilitation at a convenient time for you
    • as group-based remote rehabilitation days containing video calls and online rehabilitation. 

    The service provider will contact you before the rehabilitation, between rehabilitation periods and after the rehabilitation.

    A family member or close friend of the young person can take part in the individual meetings as mutually agreed.
