    Kela – rehabilitative psychotherapy

    The objective of rehabilitative psychotherapy is to improve the rehabilitee’s ability to work and study and support them in making progress in their studies, entering and remaining in the workforce or returning to it.

    You are eligible for psychotherapy reimbursed by Kela if you are 16–67 years old and

    • your ability to work or study is jeopardised due to a mental health disorder
    • you have received appropriate treatment for at least three months since you were diagnosed with a mental health disorder
    • based on a psychiatrist’s medical opinion, it can be deemed that rehabilitative psychotherapy is necessary in order to support or improve your ability to work or study.

    Conditions for participating in the service

    You are eligible for psychotherapy reimbursed by Kela if you are 16–67 years old and

    • your ability to work or study is jeopardised due to a mental health disorder
    • you have received appropriate treatment for at least three months since you were diagnosed with a mental health disorder
    • based on a psychiatrist’s medical opinion, it can be deemed that rehabilitative psychotherapy is necessary in order to support or improve your ability to work or study.

    How can I participate in the service?

    Rehabilitative psychotherapy may be provided in the form of individual, group, family or couple’s psychotherapy or visual art therapy. For 16–25-year-olds, it can also be in the form of music therapy or visual art therapy. Therapy for young people can also include counselling visits for the parents.
