How can I participate in the service?
If you are interested in the vocational path training offered by Stadin AO, inform your assigned specialist from Helsinki Employment Services about it. The specialist can sign you up for the training (vocational path options: hairdressing, beauty care, food industry, warehousing, care sector, and automotive industry). Your assigned specialist will assess whether vocational path training is the service best suited for you.
In vocational path training, you study vocational subjects in Finnish. Your oral and written Finnish proficiency must be sufficient to be accepted for the studies, at least A1.3.
The service is intended for adult immigrants who are interested in vocational studies and wish to improve their chances to study and find a job. The service requires you to be able to commit to studying on a full-time basis and for your initial Finnish proficiency to be at least A1.3.
The service will last for up to 12 months, and it may include a four-week traineeship. The working hours during the traineeship are seven hours a day. The service includes a great deal of practical exercises and introductory visits. The goal of the service is to support your vocational path towards studies in the industry in question and prepare you for working life. A personal study and career plan for the future is drawn up with the student during the service.
You will develop your Finnish proficiency and vocational skills. The goal of the training is for you to reach the language proficiency level A2.2+, which allows you to study towards an initial vocational qualification. The vocational path training introduces you to the field of study and vocational terminology, and it includes a traineeship at a workplace in the industry in question.
Additionally, vocational path training develops your digital skills and basic mathematical skills. The different paths also offer you the opportunity to complete certificate training: hygiene passport, occupational safety card and first aid card. Participants are paid €9 in compensation for expenses for in-person days (weekdays).
How is the service organised?
Koulutuksia on tarjolla eri aloilta: hius-, kauneus-, elintarvike-, ravintola-, varasto-, hoiva- ja autopolku.
Polkukoulutusten tiedot ja kuvaukset löytyvät koulutuksen hakuaikana Työmarkkinatorilta (Työvoimakoulutukset-sivu, hae hakusanalla "polku"). Polkukoulutusten kesto on noin 6-12 kuukautta.
Training is available in different industries. The industry-specific information and descriptions are available on the Stadin AO website (in Finnish only). The starting dates for the studies are flexible, and the total duration of the studies is 6–12 months. The studies are full-time studies taking place between 8.00 and 16.00. The training includes a traineeship (seven hours a day for four weeks). The dates of the traineeship depend on the industry and employer.
The training constitutes labour market training, which is obligatory and may not be interrupted without a justified reason. If you are accepted to a vocational institute or find a job during the training, the vocational path training will be terminated.
