The Duunikoutsi application is a service intended for young people aged 13 to 25. Duunikoutsi features three coaching packages that you can choose from depending on what you are aiming for:

    • TET placement – when searching for a TET placement (work experience learning period).
    • Summer job or internship – when looking for your first summer job, part-time job or internship.
    • Job – when starting a career after you have accumulated some work experience.

Simple version – Two versions of the application are available: the basic version and the simple version. The simple version has less content and is written in easy Finnish. The simple version is intended for young people who have challenges with learning or difficulties with reading or understanding common language.

Language versions – The application is available in Finnish, easy Finnish, English, Swedish, Somali, Arabic and Russian. The Somali, Arabic and Russian versions are implemented in a new way that combines easy Finnish with the young person’s first language. This helps the young person understand working life vocabulary and the significance of work in their first language. At the same time, the application teaches them the vocabulary required in working life in easy Finnish. The purpose of the language versions mentioned above is to support young people who are in a weak labour market position in particular, such as young people with an immigrant background.

How can I participate in the service?

The application is available at www.duunikoutsi.fi. Duunikoutsi offers coaching in matters that young people should consider before searching for a job, during their job search, while working and after the end of the work period.

    • In the application, young people can complete e.g. the ‘Summer job or internship’ coaching package as a job search course, so to speak. This section is suitable for all young people who are searching for a job for the first time, be it an internship, part-time job or summer job. The videos of various professions that are provided in the application help young people gain an understanding of different types of work and find professions that interest them. The Duunikone career choice test helps young people determine what professions are suitable for them. Various tests related to working life skills help young people understand the playing field of working life, and they offer tips on how to succeed in the job search. Through various challenges, the application’s skills profile picks up on the young person’s skills and writes them out in the ready-made CV template in the Duunikoutsi CV machine. By using the application, young people can boost their self-esteem and practise the skills required in working life as many times as they consider to be necessary.
    • Duunikoutsi’s ‘Job’ coaching package coaches young people in searching for a job when their summer job experiences are already in the past and it is time to search for a job after completing their studies, for instance. This coaching contains a more comprehensive set of tips and more in-depth information on working life skills. This coaching package allows young people to practise the skills they require during their job search, while preparing for it, during interviews and while working. In this section, young people also receive a filled-in skills-based CV with the help of the Duunikoutsi CV machine.

The simple version is intended for young people who have challenges with learning or difficulties with reading or understanding common language.

The Somali, Arabic and Russian versions of Duunikoutsi are implemented in a new way that combines easy Finnish with the young person’s first language. How is the service organised?

The goal of the free-of-charge Duunikoutsi application is to coach young people in preparation for their future careers and to support young people in identifying their strengths and interests.

In the application, young people complete exercises that teach them to put their skills into words, search for jobs, write job search documents, prepare for job interviews and understand the important ground rules of working life. Duunikoutsi’s exercises include challenges, tests, tips and videos, for instance. The application’s skills profile compiles all skills of the young person in different areas of life in one place. Duunikoutsi’s CV machine creates a customised electronic CV for the young person, picking the young person’s skills and capabilities from their skills profile.

The application offers a safe environment where young people can practise searching for jobs. Through the different areas covered by the coaching packages, young people gain an understanding of all the aspects of working life that they should be aware of and prepare for.

Duunikoutsi features three coaching packages: 1) ‘TET placement’ – when searching for a TET placement, 2) ‘Summer job or internship’ – when looking for your first job (e.g. summer job, part-time job or internship), and 3) ‘Job’ – when you already have some work experience.

Duunikoutsi also offers self-study materials that are intended for young people to support their use of the Duunikoutsi application. The materials include the key Duunikoutsi exercises related to job search. Additionally, the materials guide young people to write a CV and make use of the Duunikoutsi CV machine in this process. Completing the self-study materials makes young people better prepared for their job search.
