Who is the service for?
The Youth Workshops are intended for:
- persons living in Espoo, Kirkkonummi or Kauniainen
- persons aged 18 to 29
- unemployed jobseekers.
The workshops are intended for young people in a transition phase on their work and study path who need guidance on obtaining or maintaining their skills, finding a job or student place, and strengthening their work and learning skills and life management.
The workshops require:
- motivation to make progress towards your work and study plans
- the ability to commit to regular activities
- interest in working in a variety of roles.
The workshops do not require:
- prior work experience or skills
- you to bring your own tools, materials or supplies.
Recommended language proficiency level:
- You should have A2 proficiency in Finnish.
- In the Finnish Language Workshop, your language proficiency level can be below A2, but you should know the Latin alphabet.
- At the workshops, we will provide guidance and work in Finnish. It is important for you to be motivated to carry out workshop tasks and learn Finnish.
- You must understand the written and verbal instructions provided regarding safety and work, for example.
If you are unsure about your work ability, functional capacity, Finnish proficiency or other factors affecting your participation, we can assess whether the workshops are timely for you during the first workshop period (roughly 2–6 weeks) and, if necessary, explore other service options that meet your needs.
The workshops also serve as a learning environment for students aged 16 to 29. Students are guided to the workshops through their educational institution.

How can I participate in the service?
How to apply for the workshops:
The Youth Workshops accept applicants through rolling admissions. Before applying, you can find out more about the workshop activities either on the website or by taking part in a workshop tour. To apply for the workshops, use the online application form available on the Omnia Youth Workshops website. You can find a link to the application form at the bottom of this page.
Steps to apply:

- See the details below.
- Fill in the online application form.
- Wait to hear back from the workshops. A personal coach from the workshops will call you within two weeks of receiving your application at the latest. During this phone call, you will make an appointment for an interview at the workshops.
- Come to the workshops for the interview at the agreed time.
- During the interview, explain why you would like to join the workshops and for what things you would like to receive support from the workshops (e.g. job search, choosing a profession, management of everyday life). Please also mention if you have accessibility needs.
- Agree with the personal coach on joining the workshops.
- Sign an agreement with the personal coach.
If there is no space in the workshop that you would like to join, we can find you a place in another workshop. Please also note that submitting an application, taking part in a tour or attending an interview does not bind you to anything! You do not need to have any previous work experience or training to join the workshops; it is enough that you are interested, motivated and able to commit to regular activities. The workshops will provide you with the protective equipment, materials, tools and supplies that you need for the workshop activities.
Guided tours:
On Tuesdays at 13.00 at the address Kuusiniemi 10, Espoo.
No advance registration required!
You will have the opportunity to stay and discuss how to join the workshop after the tour.
Tours of the Wellbeing Workshop (in Kirkkonummi) can be arranged separately: sofia.rosenblad@omnia.fi
Further information on accessibility:
- The different workshops will do their best to take individual limitations of functional capacity into account in a tailored manner.
- Participation in the digital learning environment of the workshops requires a working smart device/computer, internet access and strong identification.
- Interpreting services are available for non-Finnish speakers on a discretionary basis, paid for by the workshops.
- It is possible for sign language speakers to participate in the workshop activities if they are able to communicate by writing, through gestures or by using their personal interpreter, for example.
If you have accessibility needs, please let the personal coach from the workshops know in advance when you apply. The contact details for the personal coaches are available on this page.

Conditions for participating in the service
General conditions for participation:
- motivation to make progress towards your work and study plans
- the ability to commit to regular activities
- interest in working in a variety of roles.
The workshops do not require:
- prior work experience or skills
- you to bring your own tools, materials or supplies.
Recommended language proficiency level:
- Your Finnish proficiency should be roughly at A2 level.
- At the workshops, we will provide guidance and work in Finnish.
- It is important for you to be motivated to carry out workshop tasks and learn Finnish.
You can come to the workshops for a work try-out provided that:
You meet the following conditions:
- You are 18–29 years old.
- You live in Espoo, Kauniainen or Kirkkonummi.
- You are registered as an unemployed jobseeker with employment services.
If you do not know whether you are registered as an unemployed jobseeker or what your unemployment status is, the personal coaches from the workshops can help you find out, if needed.
Your personal coach from employment services will make the decision on your workshop period, i.e. work try-out. We recommend that you discuss your wish to apply for the workshops with your assigned specialist before submitting your application.
If a work try-out is not an option, we can draw up an agreement on your participation in workshop activities, depending on your situation. However, a workshop agreement does not automatically entitle you to any financial benefits. You can ask Kela whether you qualify for benefits for the duration of your workshop agreement.
The workshops also serve as an alternative learning environment for students aged 16 to 29. Students are guided to the workshops through their educational institution. We recommend that you talk with your teacher or guidance counsellor about the possibility and appropriateness of undertaking these studies before you apply for the workshops. As a student, you must have a valid student place, and the possibility of completing studies in a workshop environment is always assessed with your teacher / guidance counsellor and a representative of the workshops.
Applying for the workshops
You can apply for the workshops by using the online application form. By submitting the application form, you consent to the storage of your information in the workshops’ client information system and to the transfer of your information to outreach youth work services, if necessary. The application form has a separate section that explains consent to the storage and disclosure of your information.
At the beginning of the workshop period
At the beginning of the workshop period, the personal coaches from the workshops will ask you separately for permission to exchange information with parties agreed on with you. It is important for the personal coaches to be able to exchange information with parties such as employment services in order to help you progress towards your goals. If necessary, you will also be asked for permission to be photographed or transported or to take part in a study conducted at the workshops, for instance. A personal coach from the workshops will provide you with the necessary information and forms.

Work try-out at a workshop:
Workshop periods are generally implemented as work try-outs. A work try-out is a measure by employment services to promote employment, during which you will be able to try working and completing work tasks in a specific field. You can receive labour market subsidy for the duration of the work try-out. A work try-out will last for at least two weeks and up to six months.
At Omnia’s Youth Workshops, a work try-out will last for at least four weeks. At the beginning of the period, we will draw up a personal job coaching plan for you based on your goals.
Support at the workplace through ‘wall-less coaching’:
Omnia’s Youth Workshops also offer wall-less coaching outside of the workshop environment. In wall-less coaching, you will participate in a work try-out at an actual workplace and receive support from a personal coach for adapting to your new workplace and developing your plans for the future. You can receive wall-less coaching if you already have a work try-out place lined up in a company. You can also first become a client of one of Omnia’s workshops and then move on to wall-less coaching once you have found a work try-out place in a company.
Wall-less coaching can be provided for up to 3 months. During the coaching, the personal coach will help you explore your options as to things such as pay-subsidised work, apprenticeships and employment in order to support your employment. During the work try-out, the personal coach will support you and, if necessary, your employer with drawing up a work try-out contract, for example.
Workshops as an alternative learning environment:
If you are a student in vocational education and training or preparatory education and training for studies towards a qualification or degree and are looking for a more relaxed and practical learning environment, you can talk with your teacher about applying for the workshops. Students are guided to the workshops through their educational institution.
