There are a few considerations that you should keep in mind regarding the Summer Job Voucher. Please read the instructions below.
- The young person’s minimum salary for 60 hours of work (€8.33/h) must be at least €500, unless the applicable collective agreement requires a higher salary. This minimum gross salary must not include holiday pay. If the young person works more hours, their salary must be higher.
- The recommendation is that the young person work for at least 18 h/week. The summer job period may be divided into several periods during the Summer Job Voucher’s period of validity if agreed on by the employee and employer.
In addition to paying the young person’s salary, the employer also pays normal employer’s contributions and holiday compensation. - If the young person works for 14 days or 35 hours during a calendar month, they earn annual holiday in accordance with the Annual Holidays Act. It must be paid at the end of the employment relationship, and the holiday compensation may not be included in the basic salary. Furthermore, the employer pays the normal employer’s contributions. Any evening and holiday allowances must also be paid to the young person in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
- In cases of illness, the young person must receive sick pay in accordance with the applicable collective agreement or, if no such collective agreement exists, in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act. The employer may not require the young person to compensate for their absence once they are well again.
- The employer does not have to be based in Vantaa. However, the employer must have a Finnish business ID.
- The employer may not be a private household, a city/municipality, a wellbeing services county, the central government or a real estate partnership.
- The employer should base the salary on the applicable collective agreement and draw up a written employment contract.
- The employer should be aware of the Young Workers’ Act. For example, the employer must take particular care when orienting the young person with their duties.
- Once the young person’s summer job has ended, the employer must apply to the City of Vantaa for compensation for the young people employed by the employer by 30 November 2025. The financial support can only be paid if the account is delivered on time and the employment relationship meets the conditions for the financial support. The employer must deliver the payslip along with the account.
