Benefits of participating in the service

The aim of the service is to help and support you in choosing a profession, developing your professional skills, finding a job and student place, and embracing lifelong learning.

Vocational and career guidance will help you identify your interests, capabilities and professional goals, assess them in relation to working life and study opportunities and, based on this, make appropriate decisions regarding your career. Entrepreneurship is also discussed as an option in vocational and career guidance.

Every client’s situation is unique, and understanding how to make progress in your situation is a key theme of the guidance. The guidance makes use of assessments, tests, homework and other suitable work methods, depending on your situation. The guidance may require support, encouragement and motivation, taking your mental resources into account. If necessary, we will plan work try-outs or education trials. If you consent to it, the psychologist may use psychological assessment methods as part of the guidance.

The aim is always to improve your chances on the labour market and direct you to other suitable services. The guidance is confidential cooperation in which you are ultimately responsible for making the decisions.

Our work is guided by the Act on the Organisation of Employment Services, which provides for vocational and career guidance in section 52: Act on the Organisation of Employment Services (380/2023) – Up-to-date legislation – FINLEX ®
