Who is the service for?
The target group is Vantaa residents aged 15 to 28 who are not in employment, education or training and who seek support from outreach youth work. The service supports young people by walking side-by-side with them, helping them clarify matters and their situation in life and promoting their access to services.
The themes discussed may be related to things such as finding something to do during the day, taking care of official matters, coping in day-to-day life, access to services, and planning for the future. The service is voluntary, comprehensive and based on the young person’s personal needs. Meetings can be held via a remote connection, in the young person’s neighbourhood (libraries, cafés, while going on a walk, etc.) or at the office in Tikkurila (Ratatie 2). The duration of a client relationship is not limited, but it often lasts for 3–6 months.
If the young person already has strong support from a support person, after-care or a Nuotti coach, for example, relying on an outreach youth worker is not expedient.

How can I participate in the service?
You may contact outreach youth work without any hesitation. You can reach us by calling, sending a message (also via WhatsApp and social media) or emailing us. You can also submit a contact request via the yhteysetsivaan.fi website. We will contact you during the week following your contact request at the latest.
You can also come and meet with an outreach youth worker without an appointment at Ohjaamo Vantaa (Lummetie 2b C) on Tuesdays between 12.00 and 16.00.
The service is voluntary and provided free of charge, so the most important thing is for the young person to be willing to keep in contact with the worker. You can stop using the service at any time. The use of interpreters is not currently possible. In very acute mental health or substance abuse issues, it is best to first seek treatment.
Outreach youth work supports young people in matters that are relevant to them. This work can have a positive impact on young people’s self-esteem, social skills, management of everyday life and routines, as well as study and work skills. Through our work, we make sure that young people have services and networks around them that support their situation.
