    Individual Guidance

Individual guidance is a one-time session, but you can book a new session later if your situation changes or you have new information that affects your career plans. You can choose a suitable time from the available options. Career guidance is conducted online, so you will need your own computer. Once you’ve selected a time, you will receive an invitation and meeting link by email.

    Group Guidance

Group sessions are held at designated times and take place in person at Metropolia's Myllypuro campus. You can join by registering, and you are welcome to attend whenever the timing suits you. Current session dates and registration instructions can be found on Metropolia’s website.

Conditions for participating in the service:

The career guidance service for immigrants is intended for you if you are an immigrant residing in Finland and:

    • have completed a higher education degree abroad or in Finland, or
    • are interested in studying at a higher education institution in Finland
    • are currently employed, unemployed, or on family leave, but are not currently studying full-time for a degree at a Finnish higher education institution.

Please note: If you are currently studying for a degree at a Finnish educational institution, we recommend contacting the career services at your own institution for support tailored to students.

Benefits of participating in the service:

Career guidance and counseling help immigrants identify their skills and find suitable education and career paths in Finland. We don’t provide ready-made answers, but support you in:

    • discovering the education or career path that suits you in Finland
    • recognizing your own skills, strengths, and areas for development
    • exploring your possibilities for employment in your field in Finland or expanding your skills into new career options

Metropolia’s SIMHE services specialize in higher education and the employment of international professionals and experts in the Finnish labor market. We serve professionals from all sectors.

    How is the service organised?

    • In a personal guidance session with a career coach, you will assess your skills and explore suitable education and career paths based on your needs. The session lasts 1 hour.
    • Group guidance sessions aim to explore, together with others, different possibilities for studying, improving Finnish language skills, and job searching. You’ll also receive peer support and can focus on job applications – the entire session lasts 2.5 hours, so you may even be able to submit a job application during it.
