Qualification training for midwives with a degree completed outside the EU and EEA
Qualification training is intended for midwives who have graduated outside the EU and EEA. After completing the training, you can apply for the right to work as a midwife in Finland.

Service fees 25,00€
Theory studies: EUR 25 per ECTS credit, clinical training: EUR 45 per ECTS credit. In addition, you pay the authority fees, document translations and certifications, as well as any vaccination costs yourself.

- The training has continuous admission
- Fill in the application form (e-form) on the programme’s websiteexternal link, opens in a new tab
- Only eligible applicants are invited to an interview
- The interview assesses Finnish language skills and suitability for the studies
- A personal study plan (PSP, or HOPS in Finnish) is prepared for admitted students
Benefits of participating in the service

- You can apply for midwifery practice rights from the Finnish Supervisory Agency

- You have completed a midwifery degree outside the EU/EEA
- You are applying for, or have received, a decision on additional studies from the Finnish Supervisory Agency
- Your Finnish language skills are at least at level A2–B1
How can I participate in the service?
The qualification training is implemented as blended learning: part of the studies is online and part as contact teaching at the Myllypuro campus. The studies include theoretical studies and clinical placements according to your personal study plan. The training lasts 6–12 months.

Part of the instruction is online and part on campus. Contact teaching takes place at the Metropolia's Myllypuro campus in Helsinki. The clinical training is carried out in a clinical environment. You can also study alongside work.

The studies last approximately 6–12 months. The exact schedule and duration of the studies will be agreed in your personal study plan (PSP; HOPS in Finnish).
