    Qualification training for radiographers with a degree completed outside the EU/EEA

    The qualification training is intended for radiographers who have completed their degree outside the EU/EEA and have been assigned additional studies by the Finnish Supervisory Agency in order to obtain the right to practise in Finland.

    The cost of the studies depends on their scope:

    • Theoretical studies: EUR 25 per ECTS credit
    • Clinical placement: EUR 45 per ECTS credit (includes the guidance fee paid to the employer)

    • You have completed a radiography degree (at least Bachelor level) at a higher education institution outside the EU/EEA
    • The Finnish Supervisory Agency has assigned you additional studies in order to obtain professional practice rights as a radiographer in Finland

    Conditions for participating in the service

    • A higher education degree in radiography completed outside the EU/EEA (at least Bachelor level)
    • Finnish language skills at level B2 or higher
    • A decision from the Finnish Supervisory Agency requiring additional studies to obtain professional practice rights
    • Sufficient IT skills and access to appropriate equipment for completing the studies

    How can I participate in the service?

    • Personal plan
      Each participant receives a personal study plan (HOPS) based on the Finnish Supervisory Agency’s decision on additional studies.
    • Compulsory course
      All students complete the course Health Care Professional in Finland: Radiographers (2 ECTS). In this course, your prior competence is reviewed and your HOPS is refined.
    • Other studies
      Other courses are selected according to the Agency’s requirements. These are completed together with Metropolia’s degree students on the same courses.
    • Clinical placement
      If you need a placement, its timing and location are agreed separately with the employer. The placement is usually full‑time work at the placement site.
    • Certificate of studies
      Once you have completed all the studies and placements agreed in your HOPS, you receive a certificate of the additional studies. You can submit this certificate to the Finnish Supervisory Agency when applying for radiographer practice rights.
