Who is the service for?
This service is intended for immigrants living in Espoo who are outside the workforce. The service is well-suited for people such as parents on family leave or people aged 65 or older. In the case of seniors, the person’s integration period must still be ongoing, whereas stay-at-home parents can participate even if their integration period has passed.
Koto-Espoo’s courses offer the option of free childcare for children who are not in daycare.

Conditions for participating in the service:
You can participate in Koto-Espoo’s services if you live in Espoo and are:
- on family leave to look after a child
- 65 or older and received your first residence permit less than three years ago
- outside the workforce for other reasons.
You do not need to speak Finnish or Swedish to participate in the service. You can participate even if you cannot read and write well in your first language.
Benefits of participating in the service:
At Koto-Espoo, you can learn languages and strengthen your working life skills. You will receive information about study opportunities and various services. You can participate in the service with your child.
How is the service organised?
You will be assigned your own worker, who will provide you with information on the various services available, such as Finnish or Swedish language courses, career guidance, services for families, leisure activities or Welcome to Finland! courses (civic orientation).
